Meet Joanna Hogan
MBABCP ISST BSS, CBT Therapist

Joanna Hogan MBABCP is a highly experienced, accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.  Joanna has worked extensively for NHS psychological services and the UCLH sleep service providing individual and group support to people experiencing anxiety, depression, insomnia, OCD, hormonal change, post-natal depression, and PTSD.  Her clients value her warm, compassionate, personable and practical approach.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has a strong evidence base for helping with women’s health issues, alongside medical and social support.  Women benefit immensely from an integrated approach to hormonal change whether that be from P.M.T and P.M.D.D to post-natal depression and mid-life hormonal changes.  CBT not only helps women manage anxiety, anger and low mood but also provides tools and techniques that can help women cope with pain, hot flashes, night sweats and sleep issues.  It is endorsed by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in its guidelines on menopause management.

There is a bi-directional relationship or vicious circle between stress and physical symptoms that CBT therapy can help tackle. It works with the idea that our thoughts, behaviours, emotions, and physical sensations are all connected.  By changing what we do (our behaviour) or how we think (our thoughts), we can change how we feel in our mind and body.

Joanna will work alongside our gynaecologists at Amara Clinic to ensure that her help is tailored to your individual needs, circumstances and medical profile to optimise your treatment.
